How many megapixels should my camera have for photos that have to be published on the internet? A camera with 2 megapixels is in fact sufficient enough for the internet. Any higher number is welcome, of course.
What should be the size of my photos?
We prefer photos whose size is about 2000 pixels. At this level the size is much too large for a web page, but it allows us to take the best part out of it (by "cutting") and shrink them to the most appropriate size for the web page. Remember that the larger the photo is, the larger the file format becomes. Mailing photos of this size is not recommended. It is better to copy them to a CD-Rom.
Is there a program with which I can shrink several photos at the same time in order to forward them to my website?
Yes. There is a well designed program allowing shrinking a complete map with photos all in one time. Why should you do this? My-websitebuilder prepares the websites so that the customer can load any photos on his own once the website is ready. This way, we don’t have to interfere, and you don’t have to pay any extra. Although we prefer receiving a CD with photos whose size is as large as possible when designing your website, it is better to forward small format photos when loading them into your website: that way it goes much quicker. The program is found in Microsoft on the page Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP. At the right-hand side of this page there is a file called imageresizer.exe. Click on this file, select “execute” and the program will be installed. How to shrink a complete map with photos?
- Open the map with Windows explorer
- Select all files you want to shrink (use the shift button, the arrow upwards above the CTRL button) to select from the first file to the last one all in once.
- Right-click in the selection with the Mouse and select Resize pictures.
- In the window that appears select the 640x480 option • You could also click Advanced to select the option of replacing the original photos, or creating new files for the shrunk photos.
- Next, click OK: done! By the way, at XP Powertoys there are some more of these handsome tools to be found.
